Steven Menkin

Steve Menkin is the president and CEO of the audience development and data acquisition companies Deliver Your Audience, Ingaged.net and Cinapps.net. Menkin created DYA in 2010 as a direct email marketing platform that has garnered a strong reputation in the entertainment industry as the go-to email direct marketing platform for Films, TV, VOD, and Publishing companies who want to target and reach entertainment consumers. DYA counts over 42 million opted-in subscribers in its nationwide audience database. Ingaged.net and Cinapps.net are proprietary marketing tech platforms that capture first-party data sharing networks across social media platforms. DYA, Ingaged, and Cinapps have launched over 300 digital and online campaigns for clients that include Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate Films, Fox Television, Focus Features, Magnolia Pictures, Roadside Attractions, CBS Films, Al Jazeera America, Discovery en Español, Penguin Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Putnam, Hachette, and Doubleday.

Steve’s career spans over three decades at the forefront of Independent film production, distribution, and marketing. Beginning with the creation of the film distribution company International Harmony and it’s first theatrical release, the Joe Roth/Neil Israel stoner comedy Tunnelvison starring the original cast of Saturday Night Live which went on to become the highest grossing indie picture of the year. He then partnered with Elliott Roberts and Neil Young on the production and distribution of the concert film Rust Never Sleeps, which he decided to open at New York’s Palladium Theatre pioneering the distribution of Rock & Roll films in concert venues.

What followed was the production, distribution, and marketing of some of the most seminal music films of the 80’s; Reggae Sunsplash I & II starring Bob Marley & The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, and Jimmy Cliff. Rude Boy starring The Clash, and D.O.A. the rock & roll cult classic starring The Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Generation X, and the Dead Boys, and listed in Rolling Stone magazines all-time top ten rock & roll films.

In 1984 Steve arranged the first off-network deal with Lorne Michaels Broadway Video for the licensing of Eric Idle’s The Rutles, Things I Did Last Summer, and All You Need Is Cash to Fox/Lorber Films. An active participant in the New York music and art scene, Menkin was introduced to Andy Warhol by Steve Rubell of Studio 54 which led to a production and distribution partnership with Warhol’s Factory for the films Cocaine Cowboys and Blank Generation.

In 1989 Menkin moved to Los Angeles and formed Freestone Pictures to produce music videos and theatrical feature films which included the 20th Century Fox release Only The Strong. Menkin also created the soundtrack for the film which launched the hit song “Zoom Zoom Zoom” into consumer consciousness as the musical theme of Mazda Motors worldwide. Menkin’s film credits include Comedy’s Dirtiest Dozen which introduced audiences for the first time to Chris Rock, Bill Hicks, and Tim Allen, Nick Broomfield’s Edinburgh Festival audience award winner Driving Me Crazy, the twice nominated Academy Award documentary Raoni, and the first digital feature film, Love God. He produced the Venice Film Festival Officina selection The Sticky Fingers of Time and The History of Luminous Motion in association with James Schamus &; Ted Hope’s legendary production company Good Machine, among the five films Menkin has produced with Hope, the current head of Amazon Studios during their long association.

Steve was a co-founder of Tokyopop and has served as a Sr. V.P. and production executive for The Disney Channel, 20th Century Fox, Unipix, City Lights Pictures, Village Roadshow, the Fantasia Film Festival and Castle Rock Entertainment.

Steve Menkin began his entertainment career at the age of 18 when he was cast to understudy the lead role of George Berger in the iconic Broadway Musical Hair. His Broadway credits include Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, and the Obie Award winning Dr. Selavy’s Magic Theatre.
